Privacy Policy

Last Updated: March 2026

DiabloBytes is operated by DiabloBytes. This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected when you visit diablobytes.com, how it is used, and your rights regarding that information. Contact us at legal@diablobytes.com with any questions.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide Directly

Currently, DiabloBytes does not have user accounts or comment sections. We do not directly collect any personal information from visitors. If you contact us via email, we retain only what is necessary to respond to your inquiry.

1.2 Hosting Provider (GitHub Pages)

This site is hosted on GitHub Pages (GitHub, Inc., a Microsoft subsidiary). GitHub may automatically collect standard server log data when you visit, including your IP address, browser type, referring URL, and pages requested. This data is processed by GitHub under their own Privacy Statement, not by us. See GitHub's Privacy Statement for details.

1.3 Third-Party Services

DiabloBytes uses or links to the following third-party services, each of which may collect data independently:

  • Cloudflare — We proxy certain API requests through Cloudflare Workers. Cloudflare may log request metadata. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
  • YouTube — Some pages embed YouTube videos. YouTube (Google LLC) may set cookies and collect data when you interact with embedded players. See Google's Privacy Policy.
  • D2RuneWizard — We fetch live game data (terror zones, Diablo Clone status) from the D2RuneWizard API. D2RuneWizard may log API requests. See d2runewizard.com for their policies.

1.4 Analytics (When Applicable)

We do not currently use analytics. If we add analytics in the future (e.g., Google Analytics), this policy will be updated to describe what data is collected, the legal basis for processing, and how to opt out. Analytics cookies will not be set without prior consent from EU/UK visitors.

1.5 Advertising (When Applicable)

We do not currently display ads. If we add advertising, this policy will be updated to disclose ad network data collection (including interest-based advertising), and a cookie consent mechanism will be implemented for EU visitors before any advertising cookies are set.

1.6 User Accounts / Discord OAuth (When Applicable)

We do not currently offer user accounts. If we add Discord OAuth login in the future, this policy will be updated to describe what Discord profile data we receive (e.g., username, Discord ID, avatar), how it is stored, the legal basis for processing, and how to request deletion of your account data.

2. Cookies

DiabloBytes does not set any cookies directly.

However, YouTube video embeds may set cookies from Google's domains when you interact with the embedded player (e.g., clicking play). GitHub Pages may also set cookies related to CDN or security functions. These are set by third parties and governed by their respective privacy policies.

If we add analytics or advertising in the future, we will implement a cookie consent mechanism for EU/UK visitors before any non-essential cookies are set.

3. How We Use Information

Because we collect no personal data directly, our use is currently limited to operating the site through our hosting provider. Any server logs maintained by GitHub Pages are used solely for hosting and security purposes per GitHub's policies.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their marketing purposes.

4. Data Retention

We do not maintain any personal data ourselves. Server logs held by GitHub Pages are retained per GitHub's own data retention policies.

If user accounts are added in the future, we will define specific retention periods at that time and allow users to request deletion of their account data.

5. Your Rights

EU / UK (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, you have the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

  • Access — Request a copy of personal data we hold about you.
  • Rectification — Request correction of inaccurate personal data.
  • Erasure — Request deletion of your personal data ("right to be forgotten").
  • Portability — Request your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • Object — Object to processing based on legitimate interests.
  • Restriction — Request that we restrict processing of your data.

Because we currently collect no personal data directly, most of these rights relate to data held by GitHub Pages (GitHub, Inc.). To exercise rights regarding GitHub's data, contact GitHub directly or refer to their Privacy Statement. To contact us, email legal@diablobytes.com.

Data processed through GitHub Pages is transferred to and stored in the United States. GitHub relies on Standard Contractual Clauses for international data transfers from the EU.

California (CCPA)

California residents have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to delete personal information, and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information. As noted above, we collect no personal information directly at this time. California residents may contact us at legal@diablobytes.com to exercise any applicable rights.

6. Children's Privacy (COPPA)

DiabloBytes is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The Diablo franchise is rated M (Mature, 17+) by the ESRB.

If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child under 13, please contact us at legal@diablobytes.com and we will take prompt steps to delete that information.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the site grows — particularly when we add analytics, advertising, or user accounts. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
