Best Base Items for Insight
Fastest polearm (WSM −10). Eth Thresher is the gold standard — +50% ED ethereal bonus on mercs, effectively indestructible (mercs don't deplete eth durability at the same rate). Low str req (152).
Budget: Great Poleaxe — Easier to find with 4 sockets at ilvl 26–40, reasonable speed. Acceptable budget Insight base.
Where it drops Hell difficulty for elite polearms. Nightmare for exceptional. Eth versions are rare but transformative.
Socket ilvl Thresher: ilvl 26–40 = 4 sockets from Larzuk. ilvl 41+ = 5 sockets (too many for Insight). Hell drops are ilvl 79+ = Larzuk gives 5. Use cube recipe or find a natural 4os drop. Great Poleaxe: ilvl 26–40 = 4, ilvl 41+ = 6 (way too many). Same advice — find natural 4os or cube recipe.
