Is the Necromancer good in D2R?

Yes. Poison Nova Necro is S-tier on Maxroll's overall list; Summon Necro is A-tier. Bone Spear/Bonemancer deals pure magic damage — almost nothing is immune. Corpse Explosion is the best AoE tool in D2R.

What is Corpse Explosion?

The Necromancer's signature skill — detonate enemy corpses in a chain reaction. Combined with Amplify Damage curse (doubles physical damage), a single kill cascades across an entire screen. No other class has this.

Do I need Enigma on a Necromancer?

For Summon Necro, Enigma is near-mandatory — your pets need you to teleport around them. Casters (Bonemancer, Poison Nova) benefit enormously too. The Necromancer has no native Teleport or Charge, so Enigma is the de-facto endgame armor.

The Necromancer is a Priest of Rathma from the eastern jungles, devoted to preserving the Balance between life and death. Commander-in-chief of the dead.
