Patch 3.2 Notes — Full Change List for D2R Season 14
By the DiabloBytes team · 8 min read
Patch 3.2 ships alongside Diablo II: Resurrected Season 14, going live May 22, 2026 at 5:00 PM PDT. This is a focused balance patch — no new class, no new expansion — built around the post-launch data from Season 13's Warlock-dominated ladder. Expect a meaningful Warlock tuning pass, a Sunder Charm accessibility rework, Colossal Ancients adjustments, and the long-requested return of WASD movement. For launch logistics and global start times, see our Season 14 launch overview. This page is the detailed change list.
Patch 3.2 At A Glance
- Warlock rebalance: Echoing Strike, Bind Demon, Miasma, and Blood Oath all tuned down
- Bind Demon overhaul: Hard skill-point gates, new aura pool, Cursed Affix gutted from 75% to 5%
- Sunder Charms easier to get: drop from any monster via MF, Herald tier requirement drops to Tier 2
- Heralds visible: 5-second lightning storm telegraph before spawn
- Colossal Ancients: Magic Resist 50→75, statues drop from any act boss, Worldstone Shards decoupled from player count
- QoL: WASD movement returns as a bindable input
Warlock Class Changes
Warlock dominated Season 13 across every meaningful metric — ladder pacing, Colossal Ancients clears, Hardcore survival. Patch 3.2 doesn't gut the class, but it ends the era of zero-investment Bind Demon snowballing and the uncapped Echoing Strike scaling that pushed Warlock past every other ladder-starter in the game.
Eldritch Tree
- Echoing Strike damage synergy reduced from 5% to 3% per point
- Echoing Strike now rolls to hit, incurs durability loss, and applies damage additively (consistency fix)
- Eldritch Blast life and mana steal set to a static 5%
Demon Tree — Bind Demon Overhaul
- Hard skill-point gates introduced: 10 base points required to bind Champion demons, 15 for Uniques, 20 for Super Uniques
- Cursed Affix chance to cast Amplify Damage reduced from 75% to 5% — the single biggest Warlock nerf in the patch
- Death Mark synergy reduced from 1% to 0.5% per point
- Mana cost set to 9 per second
- Aura pool revised: removed Conviction, Holy Fire, Holy Lightning, Blessed Aim, Might
- Aura pool revised: added Fanaticism, Vigor, Thorns, Concentration (Holy Freeze retained)
- Bind-check frequency adjusted (bug fix)
Demon Tree — Other Changes
- Demonic Mastery now requires base skill-point investment to raise max demon count
- Summon Goatmen attack speed bonus granted by skill capped at 50%
- Blood Oath Damage Transfer stat capped at 50%
- Blood Boil range scales by level: 2 yards (1–4), 3 yards (5–9), 4 yards (10+)
- Consume bonuses now vary by the difficulty at which the demon was bound
Chaos Tree
- Miasma Bolt cloud damage reduced 50%; direct hit damage slightly reduced; double-tick bug fixed
- Miasma Chains casting delay removed, active chain limit capped at 5, cloud damage reduced 50%
- Ring of Fire damage reduced to approximate Frost Nova levels
- Sigil: Lethargy — Damage Taken stat removed
- Flame Wave now applies 15% damage reduction
Equipment & Sustain
- Warlock health potion effectiveness raised from 100 to 150
- Two-handed weapons can only be wielded one-handed when the offhand carries a grimoire (not a shield)
Sunder Charms & Heralds of Terror
The most player-facing change in 3.2 is the Sunder Charm accessibility rework. Season 13 gated Latent Sunder Charms behind Tier 4 Heralds and made the drop chance scale poorly with solo play. Season 14 fixes both problems and adds a sensible fallback when the Sunder roll fails. For the full mechanics breakdown see our Sunder Charms guide.
- Latent Sunder Charms now drop from any monster with Magic Find applied — no longer Herald-gated
- Herald tier requirement for the drop-chance boost lowered from Tier 4 to Tier 2
- Sunder Charm drop rate from Heralds no longer heavily modified by player count — solo viability restored
- If the Latent Sunder roll fails, the fallback now favors desirable items (charms and amulets)
- Heralds spawn and begin hunting players immediately upon killing any monster in a Terror Zone
- Herald spawn chance increases with consecutive monster kills
- Heralds now broadcast a 5-second lightning storm visual telegraph before spawning — major Hardcore quality of life
Colossal Ancients Tuning
Patch 3.2 tightens the encounter and decouples the reward path from group-only farming. Solo players can now realistically chase Worldstone Shard drops and Colossal Ancient Statue acquisition without inflating to 8-player games.
- Magic Resistance raised from 50 to 75
- Colossal Ancient Statues now drop from non-Terrorized act bosses, not just Terror Zone targets
- Worldstone Shard drop chance no longer modified by player count
- Colossal Talic damage tuned (Whirlwind, Fire Twisters, Volcano)
Quality of Life
- WASD movement returns as a bindable input — previously pulled from PTR, brought back by community request
What To Play At Reset
Warlock is still strong, but the zero-investment Bind Demon snowball is gone and Echoing Strike scales 40% slower. Hammerdin, Blizzard Sorc, Lightning Javazon, and Summon Necro are all in better relative positions to start the ladder. Sunder Charms are reachable solo from day one for the first time since the system shipped — which means physical-immune zones are no longer an absolute wall on a Magic Find run.
