D2R PTR 3.2 Launches Today With Sweeping Warlock Nerfs and Terror Zone Overhaul
The week-long public test brings Warlock balance changes, Herald spawn rework, Sunder Charm adjustments, and tougher Colossal Ancients ahead of Season 14.

Blizzard has opened the PTR for Diablo II: Resurrected Patch 3.2, running from April 14 through April 21. The update delivers significant Warlock class rebalancing, reworks how Heralds behave in Terror Zones, adjusts Sunder Charm drop mechanics, and toughens the Colossal Ancients — all ahead of the Season 14 ladder reset.
What's New
The Warlock class takes the biggest hit this patch cycle. Health potion effectiveness rises from 100 to 150, but the trade-off is steep: two-handed weapons can now only be equipped one-handed if the off-hand holds a grimoire, not a shield. This kills the popular shield-and-staff Warlock setups that dominated Season 13 leaderboards.
The Demon skill tree sees the heaviest changes. Bind Demon now requires base skill point investment — 10 points for champions, 15 for uniques, 20 for super uniques — and its Death Mark synergy drops from 1% to 0.5%. The cursed affix chance to cast Amplify Damage plummets from 75% to just 5%, while mana cost drops to 9 per second. Several auras have been removed from the bind pool (Conviction, Holy Fire, Holy Lightning, Blessed Aim, Might) and replaced with Fanaticism, Vigor, Thorns, and Concentration. Holy Freeze remains available.
The Chaos tree also sees nerfs across the board. Miasma Bolt and Miasma Chains cloud damage are both cut by 50%, and Miasma Chains now caps at 5 active chains. Ring of Fire damage is reduced to match Frost Nova levels. Flame Wave receives a 15% Damage Reduction modifier. On the Eldritch side, Echoing Strike's damage synergy drops from 5% to 3%, and Eldritch Blast life and mana steal is locked at a flat 5%.
Blood Boil range is now tiered by skill level: 2 yards at levels 1-4, 3 yards at 5-9, and 4 yards at 10+. Summon Goatman attack speed bonuses are capped at 50%, and Blood Oath's Damage Transfer stat is capped at 50%.
What This Means for Players
Terror Zones see meaningful mechanical changes. Heralds now spawn and begin hunting players immediately after any monster kill in a Terrorized zone, with spawn chance increasing per kill in the same zone. Latent Sunder Charms can now drop from any monster — Terrorized or not — via Magic Find, and the increased drop chance from Heralds now kicks in at Tier 2 (Heralds of Dread) instead of Tier 4. Herald drop rates for Latent Sunders are no longer heavily scaled by player count, and failed Sunder drops now have a better chance of rolling desirable alternatives like charms and amulets.
Colossal Ancient Statues now drop from non-Terrorized act bosses as well, and the Colossal Ancients themselves get tougher — Magic Resistance jumps from 50 to 75. Colossal Talic's Whirlwind damage is adjusted upward, along with Fire Twister and Volcano damage.
Worldstone Shard drop chance is no longer modified by player count, and Western Worldstone Shard drop rates are normalized across high-level Terrorized monsters.
What's Next
The PTR runs through April 21 at 11:00 a.m. PDT. Blizzard is providing four character templates for focused testing: Miasma Test (Level 15), Flame Test (Level 18), Bind Demon Test (Level 30), and Echoing Testing (Level 80). Each comes with pre-selected talents, all waypoints unlocked, and a stocked shared stash.
Multiple bug fixes are also included: Echoing Strike damage bonuses are now additive instead of multiplicative, Miasma Bolt's double-tick damage is eliminated, Miasma Chains clouds no longer tick exponentially, and Achmel the Cursed can no longer be bound. WASD movement controls have been reintroduced as bindable options.
These changes will not go live before Season 14 launches. Players can share feedback on the official Blizzard forums during the PTR window.
