Diablo 4 Player Exploits War Plans Gauntlet Node to Spawn Over 2,400 Treasure Goblins

The Lord of Hatred exploit creates a theoretically infinite chain of Gelatinous Syruses that overwhelms the game's loot engine.

Diablo content creator FP has discovered a significant exploit within the Lord of Hatred expansion's War Plans system that allows players to spawn thousands of treasure goblins in a single Nightmare dungeon. The method leverages the Gauntlet node, which traps enemy souls during a shrine buff window and respawns them when the buff expires. According to community analysis from fellow creator Rob2628, this interaction creates what he describes as a "theoretically infinite" chain of replicating Gelatinous Syruses (blue treasure goblins).

The setup requires players to find a dungeon with shrines and reset until blue treasure goblins appear. Once Gauntlet is enabled, the blue goblins split into smaller spawns when killed, but these smaller goblins are stored rather than despawned. When the shrine buff expires, both the original parent goblin and its separated spawns respawn simultaneously because they share the same name tag. By timing runs so that one shrine's buff ends just before activating the next while killing newly spawned goblins, players can create an exponentially growing chain of treasure goblins.

What Changed

The exploit takes advantage of a specific interaction between War Plans' Gauntlet node and Nightmare dungeon shrine mechanics: - The Gauntlet node captures enemy "souls" during its active buff window - When blue Gelatinous Syruses are killed, their split spawns are stored in the system rather than destroyed - Upon shrine expiration, both parent and child goblins respawn simultaneously - This creates exponential goblin multiplication with each shrine cycle - FP demonstrated reaching exactly 2,400 treasure goblins in a single Nightmare dungeon run

What This Means for Players

The exploit has made War Plans potentially the most lucrative endgame activity in Diablo 4 by a significant margin. However, there are important practical limitations to consider: - At 2,400 goblins, the game's loot engine becomes overwhelmed and deletes large portions of drops - FP reported losing "all the loot except for 400 charms," which salvaged into approximately 10,000 dust - Lower-tiered loot appears to be deleted first when the system overloads - The ideal number for maximum efficient looting without catastrophic loss appears to be around 399 goblins, based on FP's next attempt theory - The method requires substantial patience and specific dungeon/shrine RNG to execute properly

What's Next

Blizzard has not yet issued an official statement regarding this exploit. Historically, the developer has taken varied approaches to similar overpowered loopholes in Diablo 4, ranging from rapid hotfixes to letting certain exploits persist longer. Players attempting this method should be aware that future patches may address the interaction between War Plans' Gauntlet node and treasure goblin spawn mechanics. Those interested in maximizing loot efficiency without triggering system overloads may want to target a formula around 399 Gelatinous Syruses rather than pushing toward maximum spawn counts.
