Lord of Hatred Hotfix History — Every Patch Since Launch

By the DiabloBytes team · Updated May 13, 2026

Patch 3.0.2 (May 13) is the first major post-launch update — a Sorcerer recovery pass (Meteor, Fireball, Chain Lightning, Ice Shards, Hydra all fixed), Storm Shepherd Druid set rework, The Oculus restoration, and a sweep of War Plans group-play fixes. It follows seven launch-week hotfixes that mostly closed exploits (infinite glyph upgrades, infinite Unique farms, infinite damage scaling) and tuned outlier damage variants.

⚡ TL;DR — The Big Changes

  • Patch 3.0.2 (May 13): Sorcerer recovery — Meteor, Fireball, Chain Lightning, Ice Shards, and Hydra all fixed. The Oculus restored. First major post-launch patch.
  • Druid: Storm Shepherd set reworked in 3.0.2 — 2pc caps at 40%, 5pc stacks with 2pc, and Mark of the Old Wolf gains a DoT damage multiplier.
  • Necromancer: Iron Maiden Schadenfreude + Bone Prison Bramble nerfed (Hotfix 2). If your build relied on these aspects' damage values, expect a noticeable DPS drop.
  • War Plans: Out of the Cold + Dog of Astaroth nodes patched. Nemesis Boss Lair, Varshan respawn, party removal, and reward distribution fixes added in 3.0.2.
  • Barbarian: Aspect of Limitless Rage was disabled in Hotfix 5 after the infinite-scaling bug, then re-enabled in Hotfix 7 with the fix in place.
  • Pit / Tower: Auto-exit portals removed (Hotfix 4). You manually exit again.

Frequently Asked Questions

How often is Diablo 4 patched in Lord of Hatred?

Lord of Hatred shipped on April 28, 2026 and received seven hotfixes within its first 10 days, followed by Patch 3.0.2 on May 13, 2026 — the first major post-launch update. Major content patches typically follow a 6-week cadence aligned with the season schedule, with hotfixes deployed as needed in between.

Did any builds get nerfed in launch-week hotfixes?

Yes. Hotfix 2 (April 29) reduced damage on Schadenfreude Iron Maiden and Bramble Bone Prison — both Necromancer variants — after they tested far above intended output. Hotfix 5 (May 5) closed the Aspect of Limitless Rage infinite-scaling bug. No skill-by-skill balance pass has occurred yet.

What exploits were closed in the first week?

Three significant ones: Choron's Soul allowed infinite glyph upgrades (Hotfix 5), Out of the Cold and Dog of Astaroth War Plan nodes infinitely farmed Uniques (Hotfix 5), and Nemesis boss lairs could be re-farmed via multiplayer difficulty-swapping (Hotfix 4). All three were patched within the first 10 days.

Were the auto-exit portals from Pit and Tower runs removed permanently?

Yes — Hotfix 4 (April 30) removed auto-exit portals after Pit and Tower run completion. Blizzard explicitly stated the feature "missed the mark" on its intended quality-of-life goal.
