Warlock — Diablo IV Class Guide

By the DiabloBytes team · Updated April 2026 · Pre-Launch — Blizzard-confirmed information only

⚠ Pre-Launch Preview

This guide reflects only information officially revealed by Blizzard. Warlock launches April 28, 2026. Specific damage numbers, passive effects, skill tree node counts, and any "tier list" rankings are speculation and have been intentionally omitted. Check back after launch for build guides based on actual gameplay.

The Warlock is the second new class arriving with Lord of Hatred on April 28, 2026 — Blizzard's framing: "weaponize Hell against itself." Descended from exiled Vizjerei mage-clan demonologists, the Warlock binds and sacrifices demons as consumable tools rather than ally-companions. It is the first Diablo IV class with two simultaneous resource pools — Wrath for offensive Hellfire/Abyss spells and Dominance for demon summoning and control.

Create → Control → Combo

Blizzard describes the Warlock core loop as "Create, Control, Combo":

  1. 1
Create Spend Dominance to summon demons. Each demon is a temporary, hostile-to-you-but-controlled entity with its own abilities.
  2. 2
Control Direct demons into position, command their special abilities, or shift them between states.
  3. 3
Combo Consume, detonate, or transform demons to empower your next action — feeding Wrath into Hellfire nukes or chaining into Ultimate abilities.

The Four Soul Shards

At Level 30, every Warlock binds one of four Greater Demons via Soul Shard. The choice defines your specialization and adds per-Shard skill modifier nodes.

Legion Demon: Ae’grom · Swarm DPS

Bind Ae’grom to summon swarm demons. Quantity over quality — scale damage through minion count rather than individual power.

Vanguard Demon: Abodian · Demonform Tank

Bind Abodian to transform into a melee-focused Demonform — the Warlock’s bruiser archetype. Closes gaps and sustains in the front line.

Mastermind Demon: Laalish · Shadowform Control

Bind Laalish for shadowform stealth and battlefield control. Manipulates enemy positioning and debuff stacking.

Ritualist Demon: Vollach · Overpower Nuker

Bind Vollach for Hellfire rituals and Overpower scaling. High single-target burst damage for bossing.

Blizzard's class page lists these skill categories and names. Specific effects, cooldowns, and damage values are intentionally omitted here — numbers are still in pre-release tuning.
