Necromancer Build Tier List — Season 14 / Death Awakening

Updated May 20, 2026 · Post-Patch 3.0.2

Necromancer holds A-tier at the class level in Season 14 — two strong A-tier endgame builds, a solid B-tier middle, and a C-tier longtail. The class trimmed back from launch projections after Hotfix 2 (April 28) nerfed the Schadenfreude variant of Iron Maiden and the Bramble variant of Bone Prison, but the bulk of the Necromancer roster came through intact and the core Blood and Summoner identities are still doing the heavy lifting.

Hotfix 2 context. The Schadenfreude Iron Maiden interaction and the Bramble Bone Prison interaction were both testing far above intended damage values pre-Hotfix 2 — one player reported 705 million damage at paragon 95 dropping to roughly 205k after the patch. Neither variant appears in the current endgame list. Blood Wave with Kessime\'s Legacy and Bone Spirit remain the standout picks without them.

A

Blood Wave Necromancer

The class headliner. Blood Wave paired with Kessime's Legacy delivers top-end speed and power — strong Pit pacing, clean boss windows, and a manageable resource loop. Maxroll's pick for best Necromancer build post-3.0.2.

A

Bone Spirit Necromancer

High burst-damage caster with strong endgame viability. Essence-banked single-target windows and good Pit-pushing ceiling when geared.

B

Golem Necromancer

Solid summoner variant with balanced strengths. Iron Golem tank routing keeps you safe through Torment while damage scales steadily into the Pit.

B

Minion Necromancer

Reliable Skeletal Warriors + Skeletal Mages setup. Lowest-engagement Necromancer build — minions do the work while you debuff and reposition.

B

Blood Surge Necromancer

Competent midrange Blood-school option. Overpower scaling with self-sustain, sits comfortably between Blood Wave and Blood Lance.

B

Army of the Dead Necromancer

Ultimate-anchored variant with decent scaling. Best in extended-fight content where you can recycle the ultimate window.

C

Bone Spear Necromancer

Moderate endgame effectiveness. Classic Necro caster still works, but no longer punches into A-tier without the nerfed Schadenfreude/Bramble interactions.

C

Blight Necromancer

Lower-tier but viable Shadow-school option. DoT-leaning build that struggles against single-target Pit bosses.

C

Sever Necromancer

Situational performance. Spectral-blade projectile build that needs specific aspect rolls to compete with the rest of the roster.

C

Blood Lance Necromancer

Entry-level endgame viability. Cheap to gear and a reasonable on-ramp, but capped well below the A-tier picks.
