By the DiabloBytes team · Updated September 19, 2026 · Live since September 15
Season 15 — Season of Hell's Legacy is live since September 15, 2026, launched with patch 3.2.1 (Build #73552). Blizzard calls it the centerpiece of Diablo's 30th Anniversary: the seasonal questline walks through a living history of the earlier games, Deckard Cain returns, and you hunt echoes of the three Prime Evils to claim their Splinters of Evil.
☠ Season Status
- Launched: September 15, 2026
- Launch patch: 3.2.1 (Build #73552, all platforms)
- Previous: S14 — Season of Death Awakening (now Eternal)
- Season Ranks: nine ranks, 125 objectives
Splinters of Evil — The Seasonal Mechanic
Complete the Seasonal Questline to collect three Splinters of Evil by defeating echoes of Diablo beneath Tristram Cathedral, Baal at Arreat Summit, and Mephisto within the Durance of Hate. You bear one at a time. While you do, an Iconic Power of that Prime Evil periodically erupts from you in combat — Fire damage for Diablo, Cold for Baal, Physical for Mephisto — and the Splinter also makes you more vulnerable to that Prime Evil.
Each Splinter has its own reputation track with eight activity modifiers and six Iconic Power upgrades, unlocked through War Plans:
- Diablo's Splinter of Terror — modifies Helltide and Infernal Hordes
- Baal's Splinter of Destruction — modifies The Undercity and Lair Bosses
- Mephisto's Splinter of Hatred — modifies The Pit and Nightmare Dungeons
- All three modify the Tree of Whispers
To switch tracks, acquire another Splinter from the largest Waking Nightmares.
Waking Nightmares
Three types of encounters rebuilt from key moments in Diablo's past:
- Largest: multi-level, Capstone-type dungeons recreating showdowns with the Prime Evils. First met in the Seasonal Questline, replayable on Torment levels with a fixed difficulty, and available as pinnacle Capstones at Torment 10+.
- Dungeons: standard-length dungeons at fixed world locations, such as the Den of Evil from Diablo II.
- Open world: sudden one-room encounters with a past boss like Queen Araneae, or waves of monsters such as Flayers.
Soul Splinters
Seasonal gems, each tied to a demon or artifact — a powerful boon with a liability attached. Equip up to three among your Jewelry slots. They drop as Magic, Rare, Legendary, or Unique; Amalgamation in the Horadric Cube upgrades Soul Splinters of the same type and rarity to the next rarity. The eight: Splinter of Anguish (Andariel), Splinter of Sin (Azmodan), Splinter of Lies (Belial), Splinter of the Black Soulstone, Splinter of Pain (Duriel), Splinter of the Mother (Lilith), Splinter of Hellfire (Na-Krul), and Splinter of Damnation (Skarn).
Legacy Uniques
Nine legacy Uniques based on relics of the past arrive in Season 15:
- All classes: Leoric's Crown (Helm), Nemesis Bracers (Gloves), Stone of Jordan (Ring), Sirloin of the Bovine (Legs)
- Arioc's Needle (2H Polearm) — Barbarian, Druid, Spiritborn
- Henri's Perquisition (Offhand Focus) — Sorcerer, Necromancer, Warlock
- In-Geom (1H Sword) — Barbarian, Druid, Rogue, Necromancer, Paladin, Sorcerer, Warlock
- The Furnace (2H Mace) and Messerschmidt's Reaver (2H Axe) — Barbarian, Druid, Necromancer, Paladin, Warlock
Nemesis Bracers, Stone of Jordan, Arioc's Needle, Henri's Perquisition, In-Geom, and The Furnace are also available as Unique Charms.
Endgame Changes
- Shared War Plans: War Plans points are shared across alts on your account that match in all three partitions — Eternal/Seasonal, Non-Hardcore/Hardcore, and Normal/Solo Self-Found. Each character keeps its own planner. Season 14 War Plans progress carried over to Eternal at the changeover.
- Mythic Unique crafting: more deterministic outcomes. The Horadric Cube's Upgrade Direct Item to Mythic is a 1:1 transfer that keeps affixes, Tempering, and Masterworking, and gives the item a Crafted tag — you can equip only one Crafted tag item. Jeweler and Blacksmith Mythics carry no Crafted tag. A second Blacksmith cache option rolls only Iconic Mythics.
- New Horadric Cube recipes: Affix Value Reroll rerolls base affixes on equipment and Talismans while protecting Greater Affixes, Enchanted affixes, Tempers, and Transfigurations; Horadric Reroll fully randomizes base affixes on Legendary+ Charms and Seals without touching Set Bonuses or Unique/Mythic charm powers.
Rebirth & the Horadric Post
Rebirth converts an Eternal character to the Seasonal realm at level 1, keeping class, name, appearance, and Normal/Hardcore state. Empty the character into your Eternal stash first — Rebirth is blocked while anything is equipped or in personal inventory. The Horadric Post is a new one-way delivery box the team uses to send rewards and messages to your account.
Season Rank Rewards
Nine ranks and 125 objectives. Rewards include up to 14 Skill Points, up to 42 Paragon points, up to 10 Resplendent Sparks (plus those in Mythic Caches), 5 Mythic Unique Caches, the Dark Wanderbear pet, and the Deckard's Confidant title. Approximately 15% of Seasonal Objectives require Lord of Hatred, including objectives needed to complete Rank VIII.
Launch Patch 3.2.1
The season shipped with patch 3.2.1 — balance changes for every class, item and Aspect updates, Resistance and crafting cost changes, and loot and XP tuning across endgame activities. See the patch 3.2.1 breakdown.
Frequently Asked Questions
When did Diablo IV Season 15 start?
Season 15 — Season of Hell's Legacy — began September 15, 2026, when the season changed over from Season 14 (Season of Death Awakening). It launched with patch 3.2.1 (Build #73552, all platforms, September 15, 2026). Blizzard has not published an end date.
What is the Season 15 seasonal mechanic?
Splinters of Evil. The Seasonal Questline has you collect three Splinters of Evil by defeating echoes of Diablo beneath Tristram Cathedral, Baal at Arreat Summit, and Mephisto within the Durance of Hate. You bear one Splinter at a time: its Iconic Power periodically erupts from you in combat (Fire damage for Diablo, Cold for Baal, Physical for Mephisto), and it also makes you more vulnerable to that Prime Evil. Each reputation track has eight activity modifiers and six Iconic Power upgrades, unlocked through War Plans.
What are Waking Nightmares?
Three types of encounters recreating key events from Diablo's past. The largest are multi-level, Capstone-type dungeons with a fixed difficulty, also available as pinnacle Capstones at Torment 10+. The second type are standard-length dungeons at fixed world locations, such as the Den of Evil from Diablo II. The smallest appear suddenly in the open world as one-room encounters — a past boss like Queen Araneae, or waves of monsters such as Flayers.
What are Soul Splinters?
Seasonal gems, each tied to a demon or artifact, that offer a boon but also carry a liability. You can equip up to three among your Jewelry slots. They drop as Magic, Rare, Legendary, or Unique, and Amalgamation in the Horadric Cube upgrades Soul Splinters of the same type and rarity to the next rarity.
How does Mythic Unique crafting change in Season 15?
The three crafting methods stay the same — Horadric Cube (Upgrade Direct Item to Mythic), Jeweler (Rune Crafting > Mythic Uniques), and Blacksmith (Forge > Mythic Cache) — but outcomes are more deterministic. The Cube's Upgrade Direct recipe costs more but is a 1:1 transfer that keeps all affixes, Tempering, and Masterworking; it cannot be used on an Unmodifiable item. Only Mythics made with that recipe get a Crafted tag, and you can equip only one Crafted tag item. Jeweler and Blacksmith Mythics have no Crafted tag.
What is Rebirth?
Rebirth converts an Eternal character to the Seasonal realm, resetting it to level 1 while keeping its class, name, appearance, and Normal/Hardcore state. Move all gear and items to your Eternal stash first — Rebirth is unavailable until the character has nothing equipped or in personal inventory.
Do I need Lord of Hatred for Season 15?
Not to play the season. Blizzard notes approximately 15% of Seasonal Objectives require the Lord of Hatred expansion, including objectives needed to complete Rank VIII and earn all Season Rank rewards.
