Blizzard is giving Diablo 4 players a chance to try the Paladin class before committing to the Lord of Hatred expansion. A free character trial will run from March 11 through March 18 at 10 a.m. PT, allowing players on all platforms to test the holy warrior up to Level 25.

The Paladin represents one of Sanctuary's most iconic classes, returning to the franchise with sword and shield in tow. This free trial gives potential buyers a risk-free opportunity to experience the class's mechanics before purchasing the latest expansion.

What Changed

Diablo 4 is running its first Paladin-focused free trial since the class launched with Lord of Hatred. The trial allows players to create a Paladin character and play through level 25, experiencing the class's holy powers and combat style. Players who pre-purchase Lord of Hatred during or after the trial can carry their progress forward on the same character.

What This Means for Players

For players on the fence about purchasing Lord of Hatred, this trial removes the financial risk from trying the Paladin. The Level 25 cap provides enough time to get a feel for the class's skill rotations, holy aura mechanics, and overall playstyle. Those who decide to buy the expansion can retain all progress made during the trial.

The timing also aligns with Season 12, giving both new and returning players a chance to explore the Paladin without commitment. Players interested in popular Paladin builds like the Auradin, hammerdin variations, or the high-damage Arbiter of the Light can test them during this window.

What's Next

The free trial runs March 11-18. Players who want to carry their progress must purchase Lord of Hatred before or during the trial window. After March 18, trial characters will remain accessible but cannot transfer progress if the expansion is purchased afterward.
