Diablo 4 Patch Fixes Mythic Unique Drop Bug That Plagued Season of Death Awakening
Patch 3.1.1 restores Mythic rolls on Lair Boss and other Unique sources as players report a clear jump in purple drops.

Blizzard deployed patch 3.1.1 for Diablo 4 addressing one of the loudest Season of Death Awakening complaints: Mythic Unique items barely appearing from boss and other Unique sources. Official notes state that certain sources — including Lair Bosses — were not dropping Uniques as Mythic. Within hours of the fix, players and streamers reported a clear recovery in Mythic finds.
Season of Death Awakening launched June 30, 2026 on patch 3.1.0 as the first full season after the Lord of Hatred expansion. It introduced Mythic Unique 3.0 — any Unique can become Mythic by drop or craft — plus Pandemonium Ruptures and Solo Self-Found. Launch-week drop rates for natural Mythics felt so low that dedicated farmers questioned whether tables were broken. 3.1.1 confirms they were.
What Changed
The patch addresses confirmed loot-system bugs and related economy tweaks for Season 14.
What This Means for Players
Boss ladder farming is worth resuming. Mythics remain rare, especially outside high Torment, but the silent failure mode on Unique→Mythic rolls is gone. Fragment crafts are cheaper, so upgrading a build-defining Unique is a clearer mid-season goal. Remember the one-crafted-Mythic equip limit still applies; natural and cache Mythics do not share that limit.
Community Reaction
Response has been largely positive. Coverage and stream clips after go-live describe multiple Mythics in short sessions on characters that were not even optimal boss farmers — a sign the fix is system-wide, not a soft rate buff on one activity.
What's Next
Some Season 14 friction remains by design: one equipped crafted Mythic, and rolls on upgraded Uniques still matter. Larger balance beyond 3.1.0's class pass is more likely in a later patch or next season than in another same-week hotfix.
