What is Kurast Undercity?

Kurast Undercity is a 3-floor speed dungeon added in Vessel of Hatred (October 2024). It's Diablo IV's primary target-farming activity — Tributes slot into the brazier before entry and determine what loot drops (specific uniques, masterworking mats, gold, Aspects, etc.).

How does the Attunement system work?

Each run starts with 100 seconds on Floor 1. Killing enemies and activating Spirit Beacons (3 per floor + occasional Greater Beacons) raises your Attunement bar and adds time. Reach at least Attunement 1 before the boss or rewards collapse. Max Attunement = max rewards.

Where do Tributes drop?

Tributes drop from Whispers, Helltides, Nightmare Dungeons, the Tree of Whispers, and from the Undercity itself. Higher-tier Tributes require Torment difficulty to drop.

The Kurast Undercity, added with Vessel of Hatred, is D4's target-farming dungeon. Unlike every other endgame activity, the Undercity lets you pre-select what drops via a Tribute you slot at the entrance brazier. Fishing for a specific Unique? Bank Tributes of Mystique. Need masterworking mats? Slot Tributes of Refinement. The Attunement bar adds the time pressure.

How a Run Works

Slot a Tribute at the brazier Tributes set difficulty AND determine the reward type.

(Optional) Pick a Bargain modifier Further customize the reward shape — quantity vs quality tradeoffs.

Floor 1 — 100 seconds base Kill enemies, activate Spirit Beacons (3 + occasional Greater), boost Attunement.

Floor 2 — bonus time added Continue Beacon-and-mob routing. Attunement carries from Floor 1.

Floor 3 boss arena — untimed Kill the boss at your current Attunement for the payout.

Beacon Routing

Missing Beacons hard-throttles Attunement. Route the Beacons before grinding mobs. Typical floor has 3 standard + 1-2 Greater Beacons; plan your path to hit all of them.
