Urivar is a Lair Boss introduced with the Vessel of Hatred / Lord of Hatred era. He punishes players who stand still: tracking light-spear rain in Phase 1, Knight Penitent adds with shield fire-lanes in Phase 2, and an arena-wide spear barrage at low HP. Listed drops include Mantle of Mountain\'s Fury and Flamescar.

Fight Mechanics

Phase	Mechanic	How to Handle
Open	Sword Slam pattern	Urivar opens by raising his sword overhead and slamming it down, painting a glowing arrow-shaped pattern on the ground in front of him. Step out of the highlighted zone immediately and reposition behind or to the flank — never tank the slam head-on.
Phase 1	Tracking Light Spear rain	Channels a Light Bridge linking him to your position, then calls light spears down on you while tracking your movement. Keep moving in a wide circular path so the spears always land where you were a second ago. Do not stand still or strafe in straight lines.
Phase 1	Charged sword fire trail	A wind-up animation telegraphs a charged sword swing that leaves a lingering fire trail across the floor. Circle around him to dodge the swing itself, then watch your footing — the fire trail damages on contact for several seconds after.
Phase 2 (50% HP)	Vanish + Knight Penitents	At roughly 50% HP, Urivar vanishes and summons Knight Penitent adds in his place. Clear all the knights to force him to resummon. Until they die he cannot be damaged, so single-target builds need an AoE option or this phase stalls.
Phase 2	Knight fire lanes	Shield-bearing Knight Penitents slam shields into the ground to spawn straight lanes of fire connecting them. The lanes deny large slices of the arena. Stay outside the lane corridors and engage the knights from the sides.
Final Phase	Arena-wide spear barrage	Near the end of the fight Urivar floods the arena with falling spears, each marked by a yellow telegraph circle that detonates a lightning strike on impact. Avoid the dense center, hug the outer ring, and weave around the circles while keeping pressure on Urivar himself.
Throughout	Stagger bar window	Urivar carries a Stagger bar that fills under crowd-control pressure. Once full he locks into a vulnerable Stagger window — your cleanest single-target DPS phase. Stuns, freezes, knockdowns, and daze all contribute. Plan a CC chain to force a burst window during Phase 1.

Whirlwind Barbarian

Iron Skin tanks the spear rain DoT while Whirlwind clears the Knight Penitent adds in Phase 2 without losing pressure on Urivar. Steel Grasp pulls knights into the spin radius for free Stagger contribution.

Ball Lightning Sorcerer

Orbital Ball Lightning kites the tracking spear rain naturally — the build wants to move in arcs anyway. Teleport breaks Light Bridge channels mid-cast. AoE ticks chew the Knight Penitent wave in seconds.

Penetrating Shot Rogue

Best ranged option. Stay at max range so spear-rain telegraphs are easy to read, and Concealment hard-cancels the Light Bridge tether. Cold Imbuement freezes Knight Penitents for the Phase 2 burst window.

Wing Strikes Paladin

How do I dodge the spear rain attack?

Move in a circular path around the arena edge. The spears track your current position with about a one-second delay, so consistent circular motion makes them land behind you. Do not strafe straight lines — spears predict and lead. The final-phase arena-wide barrage uses fixed yellow telegraph circles, so weave between them rather than circling.

Should I bring Fire Resistance for Urivar?

Yes. The charged-sword fire trail and Knight Penitent shield lanes both deal Fire damage, and they cover enough ground that you will eat at least some ticks. An Elixir of Fire Resistance plus one Fire Resistance roll on chest or pants is enough to take the edge off without rebuilding gear.
